This never fails at making me cry.

Can this scene be found on YouTube anywhere in English? Love the soundtrack for the film but hate that the music influctions/cues differ somewhat from the film (in this above clip it starts at 3:08 minutes in and goes to about 3:20) and the actual CD soundtrack. Anyone else noticed that? Otherwise I am a big fan of this magical film and John Williams incredible music!

that very unhappy look upon Elliot's face at the last shot always made me wanna cry - letting E.T. go was the toughest choice he ever made- he was always grateful to E.T. as long as he lives. :'(

@LightHero117 Lydian mode is the key of the piece. Its like a major scale, but with a raised scale degree 4. Thus making the II (2) chord major and the IV (4) chord diminished and the VII (7) chord minor. This makes for weak dominant (V) and subtonic chords (vii). Modal keys tend to just kinda drift along. Williams outlines the 4th degree of the scale over and over in this piece, by going down and around it. He repeats the theme with different starting notes, in a pattern (5ths).
