During Tangerine Dream's North American Encore tour of 1977, two of their concerts were thankfully broadcast over radio. The first was the concert at the Washington Lisner Auditorium on April 4th, and Montreal Palace des Arts followed soon after on April 9th. The still existing CHOM-FM radio station aired the complete show, and despite some minor technical flaws (and the disturbing comments from the CHOM-FM presenter during some of the tracks), Tangerine Tree Volume 18: Montreal 1977 is able to present another outstanding performance from the Froese/Franke/Baumann line-up. The quality of the music alone would justify an official release as it has all the trademarks which made Encore such a fan favourite. For the North American tour, Tangerine Dream always began their concerts with variations on Cherokee Lane and Monolight, which were then followed by music which was, for the most part, completely improvised.

  • so brilliant, so cool

  • Cherokee lane and monolight are two of a handful creative masterpieces of this awesome, fantastic and talented band,if a concert starts with such highlights, then a historical music moment is born, and we can enjoy and analize it today with the respect it deserves...that was a great occasion,a remarkable point to keep in our minds! 8->D

  • they used elka and arp and mellotron and a very big moog and oberhime as well

  • Wonderful songs, amazing concert, pure enlightment,as good as a regular record. That is just possible, because you share this wonderful gift of music with us.I think we will be thankful forever for this big present...you are very gentle, richie,i heard it 4 times now,and i still find parts, good enough to be lost in,like alice in wonderland, jump through the monitor, into the ocean of notes and waves and tunes, that take your breath and burn you with its inner fire...!

  • C'est vertigineux, amazing comme disent les anglais, je l'écoute en ce moment,

    merci Richie ♥

  • Let someone with you show this concert an the film, live. Please!

  • I have complete this concert an CD. The this concert in Montreal, Place des Arts 9.04.1977 it's genial! This concert leads on my list, with all witch I have.

  • Well,it is fantastic, and could be a new listeners highlight, but i admit,in two or three parts,it would be much easier, there will be some prpblems,to can keep it restored in a list, with that length, for old computers it is a suicide-action,haha,powerstatus,energiefail-breakdowns,etc.,but if we can listen t it at once, maybe on i-pad,it may wrk,but i am not sure. The concert is a sheer brainrooster,a soulfilter,an imaginationary flight to alpha centaurii,it is soooooo gooooood! 8->D

  • Fantastic , thank you very much for this amazing wonderful epic masterpiece of electronic music ^^

  • Good heavens, what a wonderful mega-therion of live-concert-video,and the sound im the beginning is...wow,brilliant,must listen to the whole, when i find time to do so,can't hardly wait, but sometimes too many things to do,two hours is not so short, aiaiai, but i knw,i will find some time, hahaha!!!Thank you that is a real HIT!
