@BuddhaBlurbs .Tashi Delek. It was an adventure.Got thrown out trying to cross the Tibetan border with photos of His Holiness. Darjeeling I remember well.Stayed at The Planters and was treated most royally by the staff. Kachenjunga, that most beautiful mountain , brooding over the town. Lovely little steam railway. Can Europeans fully absorb this ancient and most beautiful religion or are we doomed to remain merely observers, tempoarily diverted by something that so contrasts with what we know?

I spent almost a year in Nepal, Bhutan and India, mostly in the North-Ladakh,Sikkim Mcleod Ganj and Dharamsala etc. I met the Dalai Lama and grew to like the Tibetan refugees.Spent a great deal of time visiting monasteries; was fascinated by the chanting and conversation, once after climbing for days was fed and watered in a womens monastery (priory?),watched a sky-burial.Wonderful. Nothing was sadder than the small numbers of Europeans attempting to copy the locals in their ritual "arguing"
