A Triumph Of Style And Substance; Introducing The Samsung Series 9 LED TV
With a pencil thin luxurious stainless steel screen and a world-first touch-screen remote control, Samsung pushes the boundaries of home entertainment design
SYDNEY, Australia -- July 16, 2010 -- Samsung Electronics Australia launched today its flagship TV, the ultra stylish Samsung Series 9 LED TV, with the world's first touch-screen remote control. The Samsung Series 9 LED TV offers the perfect union between elegant design and high-end technology, providing the ultimate TV viewing experience made possible by Samsung's 3D technology. The Samsung Series 9 LED TV was first unveiled to the world at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January where it won the highly coveted 2010 'Best of Innovations' award.
The striking stainless steel design of the Samsung Series 9 LED TV wraps seamlessly around the TV's stunning 55-inch LED screen. The design is accentuated with details such as speakers embedded in the stand, an auto-sliding touchpad control and the supporting translucent stem. This premium Samsung television is accompanied by a unique touch-screen remote control featuring 'Touch Control', which combines access to all of your TV features and entertainment devices in one remote. Samsung's Twin Screen technology also enables you to enjoy your TV viewing experience from anywhere in the home.
"The Samsung Series 9 LED TV is the ultimate collaboration of stunning design and top-of-the-line technology," said Mark Leathan, Head of Marketing, Consumer Electronics, Samsung Electronics Australia. "By harnessing the best innovations in technology in a stainless steel structure the width of a pencil, we have created a unique, premium home entertainment experience."Design Leadership
The Touch Screen Remote Control
The Samsung Series 9 LED TV is the first television to come equipped with a premium touch-screen remote control. With a three inch colour display, the remote features a live feed of the program you're currently watching or the live feed of the program on another channel you don't want to miss. With a built- in speaker and headphone jack, the remote's Twin View feature means you can take your TV anywhere around the home so you'll never miss a moment of your favourite program. The remote also features AllShare control, so any DLNA-enabled device can be controlled with one remote, a QWERTY keyboard via the touch-screen and integrated Wi-Fi and infrared technology for content streaming.
Top of the Line Performance and Quality
Samsung continues to lead the industry in producing inspiring product design and top-of-the-line performance with its built-in 3D, Wi-Fi connectivity, DLNA-compatible media streaming, Samsung Apps and Internet@TV services.
Built-In 3D
The Samsung Series 9 LED TV features 200Hz 3D Hyper Real Engine and Samsung's proprietary built-in 3D processer. The first-of-its-kind 3D processor is optimised for, and enables compatibility with, multiple 3D formats. These include half resolution formats, side-by-side and top-to-bottom, as well as the full resolution Blu-ray 3D standard. In addition, Samsung's 3D technology delivers a picture using a full- colour spectrum for an unbelievably immersive viewing experience. The processing can even be applied to broadcast TV, gaming content and DVDs to automatically convert 2D viewing to 3D in real time. When not in 3D mode, you're back to watching one of the best quality full HD TVs on the market.
Connected Content
Internet@TV connectivity is a key feature of the Samsung Series 9 LED TV, featuring Samsung Apps which offers an ever-expanding portal of your favourite digital content accessed from the comfort of your living room.
Also included is AllShare for wireless connectivity and multimedia sharing across devices, allowing you to wirelessly view photos, movies and music from PCs, mobile phones and digital cameras to your TV for big-screen viewing at home with friends and family. Through ConnectShareTM, movie lovers can also connect a USB drive or digital camera quickly and easily to the TV to access videos, music, playlists and pictures via the remote.
The Samsung Series 9 55" LED TV is the latest 3D TV offering from Samsung and is available from July 2010 with a RRP of $10,000.

Now that we have the Retina display technology, we could make overlapping pixels to produce a no-glasses, no-eye-crossing stereoscopic screen.
It's just a matter of time.

3D tv is sooo pointless, especially since you have to wear glasses. Wait for the Panels that track your position and show you the 3D without the glasses. The technology is already here, it just hasn't been marketed yet.

@thefreakface Wait... if 3DTV is "sooo pointless" why are you telling people to wait for a different implantation of the same thing? That's like saying "Cars are sooo pointless" especially since you have to put fuel in them, wait for the ones that are powered by unicorns"
Blunty3000 1 year ago
@Blunty3000 , at the moment it is pointless and dumb. For one, most things arent even broadcast in 3D. Second, 3D is really only good on a giant screen. And finally, its only really good on CG 3D Animated Films.

@thefreakface There will be more content. The rest are just opinions, not fact.

I don't mind this but I perfer bulker stuff. it's why I got a DSi XL for my big meat man hands and why I didn't which to a PSP Go. while I'm good with making things smaller and sleek I feel like I'd be too tempted to snap that TV in 2 or that it will occur by accident when I have to move it to clean around the base the the TV itself.

@BrokenFWD You'd be trying hard to "snap" it... it's made from stainless steel ;P
