This is the opening video+song list of the obscure DDR Club Version (Sega Dreamcast Edition). Basically, this is 2nd Mix Plus, since it runs under the same graphic interface of 2nd mix; however, the songlist is completely different. It consists of all the songs from the very first beatmania IIDX games (1st and 2nd I think), and it uses the "game versions" of those songs instead of the much smoother, cleaner-sounding Original Soundtrack versions. This is because the original plan with this game was to have a player in a IIDX machine playing the songs of this game with 2 players "dancing" to the "created" music in a DDR machine (since they share the same songlist), the ultimate club experience. Sadly, the idea was a total failure and it was never tried again.

The synching and perfect window of this game are absolutely atrocious, it's very hard to get a perfect score in this game. I've managed to do it only twice on my DC softpad (you can find both videos here in youtube under my account) and several times with the controller, albeit with extreme difficulty.

Another interesting fact is that the song that plays in the opening video is the same that later in DDR Extreme would be the "One More Extra Stage" Dance Dance Revolution.

  • So it sounds like 2nd Mix on the dreamcast is worth getting, but this one isn't?

  • That'd be a terrible mistake! Club ver. is a very good DDR game full of classic and good-but-obscure songs, if you ever have the chance of picking this up either for PS1 or DC and you're a fan of oldschool ddr games, then by all means get this!

  • I have all songs on A DDR PC Simulator called StepMania

  • a lot of people do.

  • its it just me or is your fan or A/C running in the background? is there anyway you could post a better vid of this?

  • Not true, the North American DDRMAX has a handful of existing and then new to DDR beatmania songs. KONAMIX/PARTY EDiTiON also had a number of CLUB VERSiON songs. I miss Diving Money.

  • This game is ultimate rare!

  • i don't think i can play this, the timing issue would piss me off too much. oh well - it's cool that ddr made it to the dreamcast a couple times.

  • Really? Okay, well if you say it's good, I'll get it. It's significantly more expensive than 2nd Mix, but if I can find a good deal, I'll pick it up!

  • Why is it weird? You mean it plays weird, or you just associated DDR with Microsoft and Sony... do you find playing the arcade games "odd" because of this as well?

  • ONLY in the Ultramix games.

  • i saw some ultramix songs in there - so great how ddr is still faithful to it's grassroots songs :)
