Dr. i have been teaching my students to clap for each syllable. one syllable one clap, two syllables ..two clpas. and so on. For the rubber band technique, I use it to explain the long vs short vowel sound.
Short sound as in FIT hands together with the rubber band.
Long sound such as FEET students open their hands stretching the rubber band.
That way, my students do not get confused with the syllables and the long /short vowel sounds.
wow !! Thanks for the tips.
