  • Do you ever use lost foam casting?

  • @pietzeekoe

Never used the foam process--would like to try it.

  • Thank you for sharing these videos with us, I have a home made furnace, and have made the flasks and crucible, I am almost ready to start, your instructional videos have been a great help, you can read as many books on the subject as you like but i still think seeing it been done is far better.

Many Thanks, and PLEASE keep them coming ;)

  • Thanks for your support & interest.

  • Very interesting videos on casting!! I really enjoyed them and learned a lot. I would love to try it but there is so much involved.... making a small part would be easier for me to machine it rather than cast it. Question, what is a "Weldment"? Is it a machined/welded copy of an elaborate casting???? thanks for any info.

  • Thanks. weldment an assembly of parts welded together

  • @nazaxprime Alternately, you can simply search for "NA 01-1A-16" with google, that is the designation of the document given by the COMNAVAIRSYSCOM.

    ;D

Again, enjoy, and please feel free to share the info with anyone you like, it is free for public distribution and more or less covers all the course material (minus radiation health which is another document commonly called the "RAD-10") for a school that would have otherwise cost $100,000 to attend.

    Thank you again, mrpete222.

  • For the sake of those who would like to know as much as possible about the process, I figured I would share a Naval document used as a guideline for inspection of materials made not only with casting, but drop forging and just about any other method I could or could not think of off the top of my head.

In the following Iink, remove spaces, and replace "dot" with "."'s.

    ndt dot net/ndtaz/files/AFD-070730-011 dot pdf

If you would like more on NDT, please let me know, and I'd be happy to help.

  • what material did you use for the core in the second shakeout ?

  • Thanks Tubalcain. All your videos are fantastic. I'm just getting into machining as a hobby and it's been very helpful watching someone do things the right way. Do you go to the Cabin Fever show in York, PA by chance?

  • Fantasic informative videos mate. I am studying casting/forming in Australia and your videos are by far the best I can find on the net. Well done!

  • Thank you Tubelcain! I learned a lot here.

  • Thankyou I watched all your videos and learned a lot thanx for sharing them!!! :-)

  • Amazing!

    Nice works
