dude. you suck. you've got the timing all wrong.
the verse tempo begins with a time signature of 7:4 (count seven picks) then changes to a 8:4. it goes like 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8, try counting like this along with the music. you'll get it. the chorus is always 8:4. and follow bubejunkie's instructions too.
