  • So can someone tell me the difference between Steam and Diesel Punk?

I'm guessing that Steam = Victorian and Diesel = 40s in the US?

  • @PoopyPantyPoop That's a great question. Steampunk is primarily Victorian era science fiction. Dieselpunk is essentially a combination of the aesthetics of the 1920s - 40s with the sensibilities of today. Another point, while the US in many ways set the cultural tone during the 20s-40s there were important influences from Europe during that era.

  • @Payne43 Ahhh Thank you :), I think I'm more drawn towards Dieselpunk then steam

I think its because it feels more natural, or less over the top as Steampunk

  • @PoopyPantyPoop I started out Steampunk then I discovered Dieselpunk and realized that was really me. I was home. :)

  • Looks like majority of these came from ideas from Last Exile.

  • @Jaket2000

I can't speak for the various artists, Jaket2000. It wouldn't surprise me if the anime inspired a few of them.

  • @comwedge well in a steampuk earth the next step of fashion and engeenering would have to be dieselpunk and eventually cyberpunk... they are different in style but they share the same context.

  • @comwedge I Agree with you on this, no transitions between the 3 here, though im into classic and retro cars and personaly own a 49, thats just about all i like of dieselpunk, the look of some of the cars, i much prefer the relm of steampunk

  • @Payne43 yeah, but I like the concept of retro-futuristic genera in totality. Though I still wonder where my sentient robot/280ZX is at or my own personal space needle.

  • @geckorus10 Nuclear Punk?
