One of the great openings to an orchestral piece, and in total, a minor masterpiece, brought to our ears by the verve and perfection of Michael Tilson Thomas. I have this recording and the score, but this work should be performed and promoted more, so thanks so much for posting.

No one remembers the "good old days" with terrific conductors, the orchestra sounded so good. All the Cd's have disappeared.Gershwin's music was actually used in a movie. No one remembers or does not dare to.

Outstanding. I heard this music in 1970 and visited Mr. Ruggles before he died in Vermont.

@majorthunderbolt schoenberg invented strict serial composition this is looser 12 tone music, atonal could be anything that is not tonal [this is record is on a german label schoenberg was german but that was coincidentle ]
