A very cheap car mp3 / mp4 player so you can listen to MP3's in the car. Has wireless FM Stereo transmitter built in, and these are dirt cheap.

  • $8 including shipping? How can the US ever compete with China? I'm not very optimistic about seeing "Made in the USA" on the back of almost anything anymore...

  • @TwinMillMC I agree. I'm glad I grew up in a time when we were the worlds largest manufacturer of most everything. It may come full circle.... I shudder to think what would happen in a world crisis where we would have to manufacture critical supplies- where would it be done? in condos? at a local Walmart?

  • Pity they don't sell them with a battery compartment. Hope this unit lasts, time will tell. Btw what is the video playback like?

  • @MagnusVideos Video is not *bad*- for the price. I didn't expect much because it was so cheap, and it did not disappoint me.

  • $8 INCLUDING shipping??!! That's almost as good as paying you to take it away!! We couldn't even make something like this in the USA for $8 - let alone ship it as well!! Where do I sign up? I want a few as Christmas gifts!! There's lots we can do to modify these. I'm intrigued! Where can I get 'em?? (GREAT video Chris!)

  • @seeburgsrock Yup- YT won't let me insert a link, but here's the auction number: 200635223267 and they had it to me in two days! - even with the hurricane and all. BTW- how bad did you get nailed? My sis lives 20 miles from you, and they are gonna be without power for at least a week!

  • What format of video can you put in it ? I have the exact same one and mp4,avi,or mov wont be recognize

  • if you want to use it inside, you can get a 120v AC to 12v car socket adapter for $2-$3 on ebay, ex. auction # 300571840875

  • Thats clever how you tapped wires to run from 8 AAs in a series. Well, I got my own M.O. I just use any gizmo that converts wall power to cigar lighter power.

In fact, I brought it another step further, by installing 12 volt outlets to bicycles. I think that even non-motorized vehicles should be required to have 12 volt systems too.

  • I bought something similar for my work van a couple years ago, looks like they have really improved them since then. Let us know how it holds up.

  • @fortyfiveplayer I agree. Without getting too political here, unfortunately though I think we're witnessing the intentional destruction of American capitalism. If it keeps going this way eventually we'll reach a point of no return - short of some kind of peaceable major political revolution.

  • You don't want to bring a car into your living room?! This explains why your Tahoe was being uncooperative! All it wanted to do was to come inside and chill out. ;-)

It's hard to believe that those things can be sold for $8 including the shipping. I may just have to pick one up.

  • My dad got a couple of transmitting devices like that on eBay. Mine has an LCD display that only shows the frequency it transmits. That too has a remote control just like the one you showed. One thing I don't like about it is that the MP3 files on an SD card would not be played in alphabetical order, but in the order when the files were added. I prefer using another transmitter (also from eBay) where you could hook up any device with a 1/8" stereo plug. That can run on 2 AAA batteries.
