What strings are you using? Do strings matter in slap bass

@song5700 They're Status Hotwires 35-95. I normally use either Rotosound Funkmaster or Elites 30-90 (very light).
To me nice new strings are essential to a great slap tone! Having said that old dead strings or even flatwounds will give you that 70s Louis Johnson vibe :-)
