  • you could just as easily use carabiners... honestly I;ve never had to look for adequate twigs though i can usually find one by my feet that is long enough accommodate every grommet on my poncho.

carbiners will definitely work.. just a different way..

  • Nice idea, thanks for sharing.

  • Great technique - it also puts less pressure on the grommet itself (spreads out the forces), which will extend the life of your gear.

  • What about carabiners fixed to your strings? Easy way of clicking on, off. And you dont have the problem with always looking after a good branch, especially if its raining. Just add a some rope loops on the tarp and you can easily choose which one you want to use. Well my 5 cents.

  • just tie a slipped double sheet bend straight to the tarp and you don't have to wander around collecting sticks.

  • Wow I thought I was the only one that did that. It's a good way to keep your cordage long and not have to cut it too. Good looking out and see you on the trail

  • That is a great idea, I'm going to definitely use this.

  • Excellent tip!

  • good idea not to mention that the gromet takes all the tenion and tears out from the tarp after while .
