Part 4c

This is the last part of creating the background instruments. Next I will definitely be tweaking the midi in cubase, randomizing notes and velocities, adding and taking away stuff. The point of using a program like "Jammer" to create the song thus far is for those of us who don't have a lot of midi skills (ie. using piano roll) and for the more complicated midi editing (such as creating drum fills), "Jammer" does a reasonable job. There's NO substitute for real human musicians and this WILL turn out to sound pretty robotic, but it's not a bad compromise.

So next up will be tweaking and once that's done, I'll be ready to record acoustic and electric guitars, lead and harmony vocals. I will probably also get rid of the midi bass and play it myself. But having the composed bass in there gives me ideas. As for keys, I'm not sure. Have to think about it. :)

  • Oh Sherry, you're a cute one. This is likely not your cup of tea but thanks for checking it out. Actually, the 3rd part is kinda okay since I play the song that I'll eventually make with all this. :))

  • Elliott..You lost me back on # 1 LOL

    But Im watching!! Sherry

  • Your welcome Jim. The earlier videos were probably a bit more interesting (but not much). I'm just showing the way I go about writing a song and then putting together backing instruments for a full band sound using "Jammer" and "Cubase".

  • Thanks Elliott for putting these tutorials out. This is the first installment I've seen, and I really have no idea what you're doing, but I'm gonna watch the earlier vids in the series, and try to learn something from you. Jimbo

  • Hey guys, next video will have a bit more tweaking and then we get to the cool stuff ... actual recording. So be patient and keep coming back. Don't feel you have to say much about this video, I didn't expect it anyways. It's just to show you my way of getting the basic song happening.

Look forward to hearing from you all in the future.

    ~ Elliott
