Telling a potential client the engagement set they paid $7,000.00 for several years ago is now worth 95% less is not a great way to start a business relationship.

Or is it?

In this video we explain the market dynamics and where to find the information you need to back up your claims and not appear as the bad guy.

  • I just went on ebay and I dont see any rings of that similar quality at an extreme low price... I just viewed a 1.8 carat center stone and its even clarity enhanced and the bids so far put it in $1900 with 8hrs to go... It is true that the value of diamonds have went down allite but your $350 winning auction for a 2 carat solitare must have been a one of a million deal..or there was a error in the listing...

I posted this as a question? A newer listing can be found at 110569852925. Appraised at $7,625. Sold for $430. 14K / 2. CTW.

A single diamond of 2 CTW will bring a hefty price if it has the three C's. A diamond ring with many diamonds that has a total ctw is worth much, much less. Thanks for your post.

  • Yes they're worthless. They are just rocks.

  • The more intelligent approach is proving how difficult it is to sell diamonds compared to gold. Diamonds needs to be seen in person, the level of sparkle depends on how great it's cut, impossible to see from a blurry picture. However diamonds aren't worthless! you just have to know how to sell them. TIMING & COMPETITION has EVERYTHING to do with how much you get from an item on Ebay. Type of merchandise, supply & demand, how & where you are selling items are better indicators of a market.

  • @ScrapGoldBusiness I live in NYC and there's a burger king across the street from Ground Zero. Why isn't called "Ground Zero Burger King"?

  • This man is right on the money regarding diamonds. I went to a local pawn shop, and bought an art deco 18k gold ring with 4 diamonds of .25 each. for only 125.00 which were filthy dirty, even dried on food on the back side. GROSS! I cleaned it up, and just WOW. 3 C's all the way,and Weighs 3.4 grams of gold, so if I calcuate what I paid for it, they didn't make much money off of me. Sooo, don't go to a jewelry store, and shell out tons of money..OH, FYI! They hate pawn shops! Listen to this man!

  • thanks greg

  • I will take those worthless diamonds off your hands for a few bucks.

5mm or larger. Also interested in other stones as well. I am a jeweller

who teaches classes on stone setting and they would come in handy for my students projects.

  • I have a hard time explaining that to my customers also, thanks for the ebay link

  • Great video, lots of good information. I've never understood why women get so all hung up on diamonds. They've always been a bad investment far as I'm concerned. But try and tell that to my wife. No way!
