  • Thanks for the translation. He's really got this unpretentious and raw charisma that I really enjoy. A true Italian :)

  • Mario del Monaco speaking German. Ja!! :)

  • But gee, Mario, why didn't you kiss ALR's hand?:)--

  • I too wish there were subtitles, since my German is very limited. But Del Monaco's charisma remains powerful, and Rothenberger -- well, I first fell in love with her photos on album covers 30-something years ago. A fine singer and beautiful woman:) --

  • What a great program and gracious soprano / host. You understood what MDM was saying, I gave a short summary in another reply. Obviously rehearsed, but much praise for this Italian tenor for working in another linguistic sphere.Very few of his compatriots have done so.

  • Mine too! Here comes a synopsis of their dialogue. ALR says she understands that he loves painting - he answers "passionately". Then she asks whether he loves singing or painting more. He answers painting, because if you sing a couple of bad (falsch) notes, the critics will tear you down from the firmament, but if you paint a couple of bad colors, perhaps you will get an award. Then she introduces what they will sing in her program.

  • What a gorgeous lady - here at 52. My dad had records of her with Nicolai Gedda in operettas. But I know she was also a great Sophie and many other things. If I understood MDM he seems to be saying that he prefers painting to singing!!

  • Saw this programme when a kid, but didn't remember he sang an excerpt from operetta, keep on sending on these treasures

  • Wow, I wish this had english subtitles. He's my favorite tenor of all time.
