Despite the tough budget conditions the University of Washington is asking the state for $150 Million in taxpayer money to renovate Husky Stadium, which is raising the ire of the Washington State Cougars. KXLY4's Erik Loney reports.

  • "WSU says it would be unfair to give money to the Huskies and not the Cougars."

    WSU already receives millions of dollars of public funding each year from the state to support their athletics programs. Without that, WSU probably wouldn't even have a football team.

    UW, on the other hand, has one of only 15 self-sufficient athletic departments in the country. Huskies don't get any money for sports from the state. Giving UW money would make it fair, not the other way around.
