Greetings!

My name is Christopher Kearney and I was recently elected onto the Board of Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Government (DHHIG) as a Board Member-at-Large. In my capacity as the Membership Chair, I am reaching out to you on behalf of DHHIG to collect your opinion on whether or not DHHIG should implement annual membership dues for its members. The collection of your opinion will be done in a survey format.

DHHIG is seeking to expand its sources of income. Currently, DHHIG's two primary sources of income come from the registration fees for the National Training Conference (NTC) that happens every two years and from the registration fees for the annual Holiday Luncheon. It is a goal of the current DHHIG Board to provide more networking and training opportunities. However, utilizing existing funds has been determined not to be a feasible way to accomplish the goal.

Please know that this is not a definitive action to implement annual membership dues. This is a recommendation that was made to help DHHIG expand its sources of income. The Board will not consider such action until after receiving the general pulse of our current members.

The Board of Directors of DHHIG sincerely looks forward to receiving your feedback and we strongly encourage you to participate in this survey. In an effort to show transparency in our decision making process, a summary of the survey results will be posted after the survey deadline passes.

The deadline to complete this survey will be on August 4th, 2011

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Christopher Kearney
Board Member-at-Large
Membership Chair
