Another song from the Arrowsmith - Bushby maiden gig at South Shields Folk Club 9th May 2010. That's John on pipes and Caroline on harp. This is one of my favourite Traditional Scottish songs.

  • Wendy, you have a very pretty voice, and I like the way you sing this song.

  • I feel that your version is the best I have heard and gave me chills down my spine. While I enjoyed singing it, I really much prefer hearing better voice and what an group you have! It is wonderful. I hope you do more ballads, (I got the rowan tree, too!) as I would love to hear your adaptation!

  • Wendy, I did just copy the URL and post it. So many of my friends just loved this version of the song. I found it on itunes and purchased it. What you don't know: I found Sr Francis James Child's books back in 1970, when I was 10 years old.

Joan Baez's version of the song later in 1974, liked it, but felt that much was missing by changing the words. I started learning the guitar back in 1972-3, and began singing Silkie in 1974-5, by adapting the lyrics to the tune, I just found you yesterday
