After commemorating the many achievements and milestones that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. has helped America to reach, I think it's time that we look forward and recognize that we are already in the successor of the Civil Rights Movement: the Silver Rights Movement.
Today, we are fighting poverty more so than injustice in order to have abundance along with equal opportunity. This recession has made it perfectly clear that one's financial security is no longer secured like Fort Knox with a high-paying corporate job or 4 graduate degrees from a prestigious university. The fact that multimillionaire actors are filing bankruptcy and star athletes are picking up second careers in order to survive their lavish lifestyle further demonstrates that your life is not completely laissez-faire just because of a big check or contract either. The earthquake in Haiti was another reminder, like with Hurricane Katrina, that in a split second, your life, as well as the lives of others, can be changed instantly for the better or the worse.
No matter what life hands you, understand that the movement is within YOU. You have the choice to prevail over whatever obstacles come in your way. You have to choose whether to survive (on the hopes of others) or THRIVE (on the sweat equity and dedication of your own if nothing else). Sacrifice the nickels to get to the dollars...that makes more $ense. Don't make the mistake of just getting by...choose to FLY!
blacks will never make more money than whites...let me tell you the hard truth, black people have historically been better off under white man rule...if you look Haiti and South Africa, when white man was there, the standard of living rose dramatically and crime decreased...after white man left, murders increased, poverty became common...but anyway, I assume you are american and so we are in this thing together now...the corporations and the elite have sold us out...it's every man for himself
