About 2 1/2 minutes of old Western Hockey League action. From an 8mm movie roll. Featuring Jack McCartan in goal for San Diego. Close ups of Paul Terbenche and Lyle Carter for Salt Lake. Wish there was more and better quality.
@luridplanet Houston got screwed to by the NHL in the WHA expansion. Lucky for us the IHL gave us a team in 1994 and when they folded the AHL took us in Houston into their league!!!
This brings back such WONDERFUL memories. THANKS FOR THE POST!! The Salt Palace was such a shrine for hockey. We had our season tickets in Section 15, right behind the net! Oh how I miss those days! The rivalary of the Eagles and the Dallas Blackhawks! I could go on for hours reminiscing. Thanks again!
The Golden Eagles were a class club and the WHL was a great league. Players for SLC- 3 Paul Terbenche, 21 Roger Bellerive, 15 Fred Hilts, 16 Reggie Fleming, 6 Larry Mavety, 20 Wilf Martin, 0 Lyle Carter, 12 Larry Mickey, 8Dennis Kassian, 14 Billy Inglis. For SD 30 Jack McCarten, 3 Jim Cardiff, 4 Jack Evans, 2 John Miszuk, 12 George Swarbrick, 19 Gerry Goyer, 6 Dunc McCallum, 17 Orest Kindrachuk.
Bonus shot of old ABA Utah Stars and Salt Palace signs! Great memories. Thanks!
I miss the old WHL, which was damn near as good as the NHL! Seattle, Portland, and Salt Lake City got screwed over by the NHL every time they expanded.

@luridplanet I miss the old IHL hockey league. They were so much better than the NHL or AHL today.
