This is a VCS3 solo, processed by a resonator. The resonating overtones are entered by a midi keyboard. The VCS3 oscillators slide past the chosen overtones producing a violin sound. The Putney's oscillators are controlling each other's frequencies, as osc.3 sends osc.1&2 sliding up & down in opposite directions (thanks to splitting osc3's CV out to the oscilloscope & back in again as an inverted voltage) & everything is ruled by the joystick.. all live... all VCS3 (the background video, & the midi keyboard are not contributing to the audio). In a hurry, just try some ear cookies @0:26, @1:19, @2:08, @3:04, @3:19, @4:04, @5:32, @5:45

  • I wasn't sure as to whether to laugh or cry at your having to reference where to 'find' the 'ear cookies'. Guess I'm just from another generation: I couldn't imagine listen to "Yes" from the 70's or more contemporary "Laibach" out of context. A piece is its entirety. Do people REALLY want some sort of quick fix???

Another absolute gem. You are DEFINITELY MY TOP FIND on YouTube. I'll only be disappointed when you create something disappointing (parse that!)... Don't think that's going to happen!

  • @irynski ...thank you so much... yeah I almost didn't put the ear cookie jumps... the cookies are sweeter if you suffer a little bit to taste one... I always wonder how people listen to this stuff

  • @stomachlining I suppose 'how' people listen is dependent on whether they enjoy the craft or not. I certainly suspect that most don't really 'listen'. Certainly, 'cookies' only came in as terminology with the advent of the internet. We certainly didn't think in those terms beforehand. You'd listen to changes in motifs, timing, etc.

  • @irynski yeah you would put the needle down & commit to a journey, until you had to flip it to hear the other side... now its quick disposable choices...I mean for me its all about the energy ... there's just more distractions to sift through... its pretty cool though

  • @stomachlining Distractions have their place... but in degrees. Personally, I get up an hour earlier than I need to so that I can think - in the quiet of the morning - with no distractions. It's the perfect time to be analytical or just float out of the dream state. If I want to catch up with politics or read a good novel, I like to focus. ipods 'n texting 'n never being out of touch is exactly what is creating a species which is completely out of touch. Is it really too scary to simply be?

  • @irynski I pick & choose...never wore a watch, I don't have a cell phone, never sent a text, no ipod, it took me forever to buy a cd player, same for the VCR & DVD , but the internet makes me feel like I can travel at the speed of light. How long before we want those little micro chips embedded under our skin?
