Damn if that's not the best intro music you ever heard. This was when the NBA wasn't nearly as soft as it is now, a time where you could taunt your opponent after you proved worthy. Now you can't even pump your fist in a player's direction or put someone on their ass without getting a Tech or a flagrant. Sh** is disgusting.

Just 4 more years until we can possibly hear this song every Saturday morning again between November and early June. Can only hope they get it back there. Really miss that Roundball Rock.

It's crazy Seattle could of and probally should have gone to the Finals in '93, '94 and '96 behind Payton and Kemp. Shame
-
@Pradamaster Seattle was better than the New York Knicks, they were deep off the bench and great defensive team with Payton, McMillan, Pierce, EJ, McKey, Kemp, Perkins
-
@Pradamaster clearly disagree with that- Seattle won 55 but the rockets beat them??? i dont think so, Seattle owned houston for that 4 year stretch. without paxon hitting that three we see a game 7 between phx and the bulls, the suns were playing there best basketball after there series with LA.
-
@marviemarv52 that's because the game got super ugly and low scoring as teams like the knicks and heat exploited loopholes in the rules to play an overly defensive and depressing offensive ineffeciency. game is generally more "fun" now and i think that's a good thing

@marviemarv52 Jew Stern and his chronies would even conspire to make a Barkley/Kemp matchup look timid these days.

"Cleary inferior" is clearly bullshit.

How would Phoenix have fared against the Knicks?
We saw how it played out with Chicago- that would have been an interesting series.
-
Well, inferior to John Paxson perhaps. The Suns did beat Chicago in Chicago twice in the finals, and lost three at home, probably because the expectation and the pressure were too much, and in games one and two in particular. Had there not been for JP championship shot and had it gone to game seven in PHO. Hmmm.

this was the series where the poor old sonics got cheated out of going to the finals, the record for most free throws attempted was in one of these games, the press was all over how cool it would be to have barkley vs. jordan, it was over before it even began
Clearly inferior? The Suns won a league-best 62 games that season and the Sonics won 57, as many as the Bulls. Phoenix almost defeated Chicago in the NBA Finals and might have done so with more experience (including in coaching), and both the Suns and the Sonics possessed more talent than the Knicks.

1. Seattle won 55 games, not 57. If Houston has home-court, they beat Seattle in Round 2.
2. Phoenix was not playing its best ball in the playoffs, so don't give me the 62-win thing. They nearly lost to a dreadful Lakers team, struggled with a so-so San Antonio club and really struggled against a Seattle team most people felt were a year away. Meanwhile, the Bulls swept Atlanta and 54-win Cleveland before the Knicks, while the Knicks only lost two games before meeting the Bulls.
