a question for anyone out there who knows first-hand what it was like in 1970-74 phnom penh - - what was going on in the youth culture? marijuana/ganja, lsd, mini-skirts, boys with long hair, discotheques, suzukis? back then what did parents and the 40-something generation think about this style of music? did the 40-somethings know who ros sereysothea & sinn sisamouth were? or was this listening to this music the way that young urban khmer declared independence from their parents?

Thank you so much for sharing!

Sends shivers down my spine as I watch it knowing what is about to happen to all these people out there. I can only imagine what it takes for a happy and bright place like this to become a symbol of death and grief.

phnom penh must have been a really happening place in 1970-74.

At 2:19 many years later Jean-Paul Gaultier created an almost exactly the same style clothing - the breast style thing wore by Madonna. Was he inspired by Lady Sothea? LOL

Khmer oldy music is getting known outside cambodia and to khmer new generation, I would highly encourage those of you who are perfectly fluent in english and in khmer to translate it into english - it would be great in a peotic way - so we can preserve and let non-khmers speaking to understand and appreciate it.
I'm sure Jeff wouldn't mind to paste it on the right hand corner. Hopefully, someone out there will hear me and grant me this wish.
Thaaaaaaank you in advance
The old clips give the video a great mood. Is that Sothea herself dancing? Love it -- thanks!

no, too bad that is not her dancing - as far as I know there is no video of her known to survive.

My my sure have a way with rare finds! I've always heard this song in Khmer karaoke but never knew Ros sang it. Another treasure uncovered indeed. I think "komloss srey jowm" is the title given in karoake vids. It means babe magnet.

I cannot claim credit - I got the song from my friend who helps make the Khmer2English videos on youtube. Thanks for the info about the song - I dig that translation of the title.
