I've listened to his radio show. The guy is from another era, he grew up where you had to find the right length rifle that can fit into your high school locker so you can go hunting after class. Vermont used to be an extremely conservative and ruggedly independent. Guns in schools were never an issue until the influx of new people and politics. Vermont is still the most free in the nation when it comes to gun laws and it isn't an issue from the "native" Vermonters, just recent transplants.

@tuscaniGER no. in vermont, they are probably a fringe group of a few thousand at most (state pop. 500k). let it be said that our ACTUAL u.s. rep is a fairly liberal guy (peter welch) who succeeded a declared socialist (bernie sanders).

noooo they are a small but extremely vocal minority. they hide in places like Texas and obviously backwoods Vermont haha
i've never been to the us and i don't really know how trustful the media is here in germany when it comes to america and guns so are there really that many americans like him? obsessed with guns and always arguing with "protect your family" and "we have the right to posses guns (because someone in 17something decided it would be awesome)"

@tuscaniGER Well, the Supreme Court just affirmed that their is a right to bear arms for personal defense, so I don't know how fringe that viewpoint is. In most states (including Vermont) even liberal politicians run from gun control. Our representative, Peter Welch (who defeated Paul Beaudry), told me he's not interested in pushing gun control in Congress.
