What's the point of a giant robot looking like a giant animal? That's not exactly blending in.

Still better than Action Masters

i saw collector 75,s reveiw of canavaric and found it to be a bit disturbing seeing the teeth when you took the shell apart shame about the crappy robot

i can see how these toys werent popular, i mean, transformers were meant to transformer into things that could hide them. I see what's going on here, this is another PETA set up where they will say that transformers were wearing animal skins to pretend to be those animals and that Hasbro was saying it was ok to kill things and wear their hides. Mario was first, now transformers, what will they attack next, Scooby Doo?

I had a bunch of pretenders when I was a kid, specially Pretender beasts. I should have kept them. But back then I wasn't a collector. Ahh... regrets.

Better questions: What was the point of selling an action figure with no articulation in a line known specifically for metamorphic articulation.

Yeah it's also always bothered me that they released the toys for Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory here in the states but didn't release the TV Shows that encorperated those toys. Hell the only Pretender I've seen outside of these toy commercials is Alice from Revenge of the Fallen

The beast pretenders are like for the animal base transformer fans, right?

The Pretender concept wasn't really a bad one, if you ask me. Hasbro should have put at least as much effort into the Shells as the figures inside--a little extra articulation goes a long way in my book.

That was awful
Were Pretenders the prototypes for the Beast Wars franchise?

@vampman87 No, the Pretender Beasts were simply a subset of the Pretender Transformers that happen to have organic looking beast shells. Short of maybe being a minor inspiration (though no one has said so) they have nothing to to do with the development of the Beast Wars toyline seven years later.
