That girl's voice is way to mature. Kind of strange.
-
That's standard operatic practice. Young girls are not considered to have good voices for classical singing- a bit erratic and characterless. Some productions have both roles being sung by adult women,
-
That's usually the case, 'fraid.
It's pretty rubbish, because they need to entwine so much, don't they?
-
In the versions of "Turn Of The Screw" that I've seen the sexual abuse of MIles and Flora wasn't elaborated as much as the Britten opera. The adage of "use your imagination" could be used for something like that.
-
I noticed that, too. o.o
-
I think because they added that intro and it was SO explicit that any further allusions weren't really needed.
-
does anyone else find it odd that Miles is sung by a boy soprano but Flora is sung by an adult?
-
Exquisite.
hahaha look at the hair and makeup. 80's style victoriana.

Boy they missed a whole thing with the dolly here, especially considering the 8 minute short film preceding this production - they seemed to be playing up the sexual abuse, I was expecting to see something really clever as Flora play-acts with the doll. Oh well.
