WOW!!! If their funding comes from 100% of postage sales they would have declared bankruptcy decades ago. The Post Office operates at a loss. Think about sending a 40 cent letter from the US to Hawaii...that kind of prcing won't survive in the private sector. If it did you would see UPS or FedEx adopt this. One could start by stopping the Congress-mandated pre-funding of retirement, a burden no other government has to fulfill.

@blackjac5000 Yeah man. The post office is vilified. But in no way do they operate entirely off of sales. They have to be subsidized because they have to compete with the private sector but are legally not allowed to compete. It's a stupid situation.

@DEEPGNOSTIC Actually, the Post Office's funding comes 100% from postage sales, not from any amount of taxation. Try doing actual research rather than going off whatever Fox Opinion or AM talk radio is yammering simply to get attention.
