Thank you so much for this comparison. Extremely useful. I was wondering what the difference is between 150 and 40. Now I can see it for myself. Thumb up! :)
I wanted to get the hmc 150 for making videos, but I heard that the DVD-R footage is not able to be edited on computer video editing systems. Is there a way around this?
Go for the HMC150 if you can afford it. The waveform and vectorscope is very useful, and the control over the brightness dynamics and larger CCD's make it a winner. I've used the HMC 151 since May 2009.. It's a great cam.
hmm i like the hmc150 widscreeen view but the hmc40 does seem to look very well hmc150 is over all a better camera but not by much. i would say for the extra grand go for the 150 if its too much dont put yourself down the hmc40 is still overall a fantastic camera. plus the zoom is a little better on the hmc40 and the focus is better than the 150
@kirimageproduction i was deciding between getting a vx or the hmc40. I ended up getting the hmc40 because it is hd. there are many settings where you can change the color so i would not worry about it. Now it would be a expensive upgrade so if you are a little on the edge about it i would consider your options
thank you for the test...mostly appreciated! noticed the 150 [3ccd] has more color depth...i am still deciding whether to sell my sony vx2000 [3ccd] to buy the hmc40 but i'm afraid i will lose the color detail...3ccd vs 3cmos!!! do u have any suggestion?

Is the HMC40 really worth 2X as much as a TM700?
