  • @davidjtrent they're only looking at the peak, not the curve, and you spend at least this much on the engine to prep it for the turbo. So IMHO that's really not an option.

  • They should had just changed air filter, cleaned mass airflow sensor, changed spark plugs and oil. Or put in a k&n air intake. For the max hp gain for cheap.

  • @davidjtrent ebay kits only come with a small fraction of what you need for a complete kit.

  • @KarlisKristaps Oh and if you happen by a VW enthusiast and get talking with them, get them on the subject of the VR6 V6 engine. Trust me, they respect that engine more than the original MK1 Golf GTI inline-four, and even the original Beetle's flat-four.

  • @KarlisKristaps VW's are as good as any Audi or Lamborghini because they pretty much lead the motor industry in quality, you can watch the Golf GTI MK6 review to see what I'm on about. I actually thought about getting an Impreza WRX at one stage, but the insurance, rice image (with modified cars) and the sub-standard interior didn't appeal to me. Seems stupid to rabbit on about car interiors, but that's basically what you're always interacting with...and Volkswagen has it licked.

  • @FordV8Supercar Well, Subarus can be very durable cars, but the interior on japanese cars is usually awful, yes. But interior isn`t everything, is it? I myself drive a german car, but I dislike the fact that a lot of VW drivers think their cars are Audis or Lamborghinis. If you want a well performing car - buy a BMW or a Subaru. If you care about getting from point A to B and having a car that will last for a long time, VW`s are very good cars. A VW will simply never be a sports car.

  • @KarlisKristaps Er, few people enjoy sitting in an interior made from recycled plastic garbage bins. Some prefer like, you know...QUALITY cars. The Jetta (and Golf) VR6 is worshipped in VW clubs around the world for a good reason.

  • @urbex2007 I've used engine recompression fluid in an old banger (200,000km+) I have, and it made an improvement to the engine response without any other mods. Yes thickened oil can damage an engine, but some oil thickness is required so the oil can cling to mechanisms and allows it to 'travel' to where it is needed. Thin oil can damage an engine as well because of this. Also, 6bhp does sound like diddly squat, but the improved engine response is what makes the difference, trust me!

  • If you want your Jetta to perform better, here`s what you do.

    1. Sell the Jetta VR6

    2. Buy an Impreza STI

    3. Enjoy

  • That is a lot of money for very little gain. The 6BHP is from the air filter and spark plug change only. The faster lap times are from better tyres and better brakes, that part has nothing to do with power so the two shouldn't be confused. Fuel additives are proven to REDUCE power, plenty of tests show that on youtube. Never thicken the oil, it starves parts of the engine and damages it, there is also a huge heat increase, so watch the head gasket too. Just keep a car serviced regularly.
