  • ... I take TKD... sparring does NOT look like this. Is it only us that follow the World TKD federation rules? The vid above is more of a bunch of slap-fighting than Tae Kwon Do. I know, since I have a black belt, and am quite goot at TKD.

  • @TheMeanerKitty - ITF and WTF TKD are quite different, and believe me, for many ITFers the WTF style sparring looks also very strange with people fighting with their arms down, clinching and using very limited blocking. Both styles of fighting have strong and weak points. And by the way, I know it, since I'm a black belt too, but I don't really claim to be quite good at TKD, just enjoying it thoroughly for 20+ years (including my Kukkiwon black belt grade :)

  • good vid. But Im surprised to see people with as low a belt as green tag competing and winning a medal 1.13 . Isn't the world championships supposed to be the best of the best ya know like the world cup is for football. That guy won right...so what is he...the world champion of the green belt lightweight division thats kinda degrading the value of a world champion title, if he can easily get his ass kicked by a red belt of the same weight. The world championships so to show whos got better...

  • It's really about how much value do you place on that title. No one will compare a winner of the yellow belt division to the black belt level. With ITF TKD being so fragmented, you may as well question any title achieved. There was a competition, we went there, it was fun, nothing more, nothing less. It would still be fun if the competition would be called Mickey Mouse Championships :)

  • From what I know, you're not allowed to punch in the face at TKD tournaments. You can kick, but not punch.

  • You are not allowed to punch to the face in WTF Taekwondo tournaments (Olympic style). In the ITF its perfectly OK :-)

  • i think that both itf and wtf tkd should be in the olympics

  • ....skill. If the green tag does lose to a red belt of the same weight its not unfair its just he's not good enough and he shouldn't be there in the competing in such a high-level competition

    ITF X GTF ????

  • What is the backgroud music?

  • @lpriadi It takes time for somebody to move through the ranks of taekwondo, whereas talent can come out of nowhere all of a sudden, i know a greenbelt who recently competed and kicked the ass of a proffessional kickboxer. just sayin yo.

  • i still prefer my muay thai than this...

  • LoL Mickey mouse champs. Yes it is disappointing for TKD to suffer because of these fragments, especially at the grass roots (if you like) level,

we lowly pratitioners do not want to dabble in politics, just enjoy the art as General Choi intended it.

    Taekwon!

  • The green belt could have been more experienced in fighting than gaining belts.
