Gangsta is one of the most enduring tracks from the African Dope label, and this video by vj Grrrl (aka Meme aka vj Blink) blends both versions of the track (the original and DJ Dope's Raggadub remix) with the true story of the day Warrick Sony (aka Kalahari Surfers) lent some speakers to Ghettomuffin (Mzi and Ginga) for a gig in the ghetto. On their way down the hill with the speakers, the duo are accosted by the police who take them for thieves, before eventually reaching Gugulathu where the party kicks. Spectacular footage of all sides of the Mother City - from paradise to the ghetto.
This is one of the few songs I've heard where I like both the album version and the dub (DJ Dope's Ragga Dub). Five stars. Thumbs up.
