They're all died

@McLarenMercedes I haven't read the book but I've seen the film made in the 1930's and the end really got to me. When the main character died, I couldn't help but cry and couldn't stop thinking how terrible it must've been for them.

Politicians have no problem convincing every new generation that war is "necessary" and for their "security" and "freedom". Hitler used the very same words as did Goebbels when the war took a turn for the worse.
That's because the youth are driven by fear and ignorance in general. "Get them before they get us".
Remarque's "All Quiet on the Western Front" should be compulsory reading for kids in school, but I believe the message in with fly straight above most head anyway.

So true, my friend. But have we learned anything at all since 1918?

They really believed what they were fighting was the war to end all wars.
Little did they realise that those who run our nations love war and always would.
If anything war has became more sophisticated and modern technology can ensure more innocent bystanders are killed as well as the so called enemy.
The message of the real heros like Harry Patch and co. has been lost.
it matters not whether our leader is Blair, Brown or Cameron, one certain thing is they will lead the UK into war.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

True men who understand the band of brothers that we as 21st century boys can hardly find. True heroes. Let us remember them, so they can live forever in our memories.
