It doesn't really save energy. Congress just feels they need something to justify doing this so they say it saves energy. It's mostly for a psychological benefit.

The length of a day increases during the summer without us doing anything, so no, we don't create an extra hour of daylight, we just shift the hours at which we operate. Daylight saving time is perhaps the dumbest tradition that we still practice. Why should everyone be forced to set their clocks ahead? If some people want to have the illusion of one more hour of daylight, then they should set their alarms to wake them up one hour early and let the rest of us sleep in.

Lol. People really do that? Mine are already set and it's 10:45pm, really 11:45pm. This is going to make the day go faster, hopefully.

What I think is so sad, and maybe a little funny is this. They say at 2:00 a.m. our clocks are to be set. So you just know there are some people who will actually set their alarm to wake them just before 2:oo a.m. because they don't understand you can reset it BEFORE you go to bed. I'm telling you it happens, people just aren't that smart over all.
