  • Now that's a proper job! This guy is a god amongst geeks. I'm not worthy.

  • By the G note sound of your arc I must assume that you are located on the European side of the atlantic Ocean (50 hz) as opposed to 60 hz in North America (closer to an A sharp note). Nice JL.

  • You are correct. I'm in the UK and we use good old 50 cycles per second.

  • @dafridgemagnet I don't wanna burst your bubble guys, but in all actuality, this arc has a 100 hz tone. In America it would be 120 hz, which is, of course quite easy to tell apart from 100 hz. This is because to the arc both half-waves are the same, it doesn't matter if they are positive or negative, unlike to a loudspeaker. So the frequency we hear is double the alternating frequency.

    Sorry, I'm a bit of a smartass sometimes :o)

  • @gmtcman i was commenting that it's impressive you can tell it's a g just by listening. most people just hear a note, but can't tell which one. So you must be "perfect pitch" or have used software or compared it with a tuned instrument to be able to tell the frequency.

  • @dafridgemagnet Not sure I understand your question?? No required software to disern the difference between the tone of a 50 hz arc vs. a 60 hz. arc - the incredible, God-given software installed between your ears is quite sufficient ;^)

  • @gmtcman perfect pitch? I'm impressed. Or did you use software?

  • ya, ebay f*****g awsome!!

  • I used a transformer from an old test set. Isn't Ebay great? Doctorbellend

  • wait, nevermind myNST statement, i forgot about your volatge ratings in the title!
