  • I heard that a couple of weeks ago 64 trains left Tyne dock in a week=96000 tons WOW

  • Sounds about right ,don't get to see tyne dck list anymore as GB are contracted to TP are trains now.

  • TP?

  • train prepare us loading running train brake test if needed etc etc.

  • I was talking to the TP man this afternoon at Tyne Dock, there was two freighliners in the dock area, one on its way out, I asked were it was going and he said "Cottam" he also told me that there was 70 a week leaving and they weight was 2200 tons full , but the empty trains weight was 500 tons.

  • 19 wagsons comes in at 513 tons 640 when you add loco at 127t's,1938t's loaded + loco gives a wieght off 2065t's

My great grandfather used to run tyne dock to consett as well as east coast scotsman service. I know he did atleast 45 years. They probably knew each other!

  • i thought the amps would be high. when ive seen the 66's pass the dump

  • that driver vigilance device sounds a pain in the arse

  • Thanks. I've been railroading 30 years but this one escaped me.

  • footplate is what the driver and fireman used to stand on when driving a steam train. I then used the term to mean driving diesel trains also.

  • Can you help me with the term footplate. I've been an engineer (or engineer trainer) for 30 years in the US but curious as to what this term means.
