Saving your phone from water with a ziplock bag

I am testing whether a ziplock bag can save your phone from water damage. Put your phone in the bag and seal it, then stick it in your pocket if you are going to go somewhere the phone might get exposed to water. Like the beach, while fishing, on a hike near water or anywhere else it might be helpful.
