this has got nothing to do with his accomplishments... you ass kissing homer homo flyers fool... it's about his dirty style of play.... get your head outta your ass and acknowledge that he was a dirty scumbag like yourself. I'm sure you're proud of your successful career of running your mom's trailer park...lol!!!
@classicNHLfights ya and I read your impartial review as well. Your own words demonstrate how "knowledgeable" you are. I'd say Holmgren had a more successful career than you've had -- 1981 NHL All-Star selection, 1981 chosen by Team USA for the Canada Cup, first American-born player to score a hat trick in a Stanley Cup Final, NHL Executive of the Year as General Manager, been a Director of Pro Scouting. But maybe I'm off-base -- how's your career as human bedpan in the mental institution?
Holmgren was a scum bag flyer who deserved what he had coming. He once jumped Bruce Boudreau, a non fighter and pummeled him while he clearly wasn't even engaging. Holgren got a major -game misconduct and Boudreau got nothing.
Homer was one of the toughest guys ever, and also a very good player (The 1st American born to reach 30 goals) Here he is at the very end of his career. His body was ruined from years of reckless play.
@classicNHLfights good answer. Translation -- didn't fuckin beat anybody. Where's your footage of Holmgren fighting with a shield or this "dirtiest players ever" reference? If you're just gonna make up shit because you're not a fan of somebody don't be surprised when you get called out on it. Ken Linseman was one of the dirtiest players ever and thanks to Holmgren protecting him had a long career even with everyone in the NHL wanting to kill him. Guess Holmgren did his job pretty well
@classicNHLfights why don't you PRODUCE some evidence of him being a dirty player instead of just talking shit? I'll direct you to no less than 10 clips on here of Nilan's cheapshots. Other than Holmgren headbutting Willi Plett (which was mutual) you won't be able to. I'm surprised you didn't mis-spell Nilan given your limited brain power. Holmgren was victories over Gillies, Plett, Fotiu, and draw with Playfair. I'll ask again, WHO THE FUCK did Nilan ever beat?? LOL absolute punching bag
Holmgren was a damaged hulk when this occured .Saw him in the 1980
playoffs and he was playing great hockey, checking , scoring and flying up
and down the ice. He unfortunately had Pat Quinn as a coach who encouraged
him to goon it up. If he had Nanne as coach that early in his career maybe Lou
would have had some influence against the stupid / shitty part of his game that
prematurely claimed his career. It cost him a better place in hockey history and
his team playoff rounds and cups...
