The replacement window i used was an Atrium vinyl window. It cost me about $160. It has a low-e coating and argon gas between the double panes. It is on the north side of the house.

  • Is that a Window World window?

  • Thanks for this video, its one of the few available that shows how to replace old windows completely from start to finish. Only thing missing was about how to measure the windows to be replaced but there are others online that do that.

  • You don't have to be certified by the EPA to replace your own windows. Not all paint before 78 contain lead.

  • I like the video good job. Now here comes the But.

All old houses from 1978 and older, EPA requires you to be a Renovator working for an EPA Certified Firm to remove old windows because the paint has lead.

The fine for not complying is as high as $37,500.00. All contractors, plumbers, electricians, and landlords are reqiured to be certified for Renovator and EPA Certified Firm.

To learn more visit the EPA website.

  • thanks for the info this is a big help i have very similar windows

  • Thanks for the instruction. I actually need to change the windows in my house soon.

One room I keep shut through the whole winter because the windows don't insulate well enough.
