ok thanks i will just go and buy a suitable orchid mix from my local garden centre and how often should i feed with liquid orchid food in winter/summer ?

Regarding feeding, see my video or How to feed your orchid posted Nov 12 / 2011. You can also get orchid fertiliser at your garden centre. Good luck, hope to see a video response once your plant is thriving. !

ive just bought a cheap cymbodium orchid it was ok but not flowering so i bought it .....its in 4 inch standard orchid plastic pot it has lots of roots do you think it needs re-potting yet? the plant is about 2ft high and easily topples over if i do re-pot it what size pot should i use and can i use ordinary wood chips from a bag i bought for the garden and is that all it needs just wood chips?

I suggest you repot to the next bigger size, 6 inch pot. In natural conditions cymbidiums grow on the forest floor ( semi terrestrial ) which has loose leaves, moss and moisture. I dont think wood chips would be suitable. Fir bark and moss mix in a 70:30 mix should be good. Look closely at the medium it is already growing in, and try to make the same. Good luck!
