Eid Mubarak Hari Raya Geylang Serai Bazaar 2009 - P. Ramlee Suara Takbir

The annual Hari Raya Aidilfitri (Eid Mubarak) Light-up is aimed at enhancing the festive ambience of Geylang Serai, Singapore's traditional Malay area, in order to attract visitors to participate in the Hari Raya activities through street bazaars and cultural shows during the Muslim month of Ramadan.

P. Ramlee an all time favourite to all malay and non-malay alike. Listening to this song bring back nostalgia feeling of my childhood kampung life. Nothing can beat the wonderful mood of Hari Raya in kampung ambience. I truly missed that good o' days. Somewhat, I going to miss P. Ramlee this Hari Raya. May he rest in peace. Knowing that his non-malay fan here missed him so much.

I use to roam this street in Geylang Rd in my early 20's now Iam in my 40 and living in Melbourne Australia, I really does bring back old memories.

Salam Aidilfitri.

Some parts of Geylang Serai have changed. The old market & hawker centre were demolished and a new Geylang Serai Market (ref 3:55) built on the premises. The old blocks 1,2,3 were also torn down to be replaced by new blocks of 4/5-room flats still under construction.
