Chris "Survivorman?" Copeland tries his first attempt at creating a bow-drill fire on a backpacking trip. A friend bets him $5 that he can not do it. Hilarity ensues.
You have to get on the ground and put your left foot on the fireboard. You have to burn in the fire board and hand block deeper before you can make fire and yes, your spindle is not straight enough. Also, use the entire length of the bow to spin the spindle. You're short-stroking (never a good thing for a guy to do ;-).
Guys you hace to kneel down and brace your left arm against you left leg as that keeps the spindle steady, sharp at the top, blunt at the bottom, limpet shell for less drag at top, hard wood but not too hard, experiment with different woods
he need a better borer! may not be bended.

When you can start a fire with your mind and your hands it gives you great confidence in the wilderness!

Your spindle needs to be straighter, like Nilezll saud.

Try whittling the drill until it's straight. That's why it won't stay in the hole.
