Vincent and Lucrecia are engaged but Hojo interfere with their love and killed Vincent
Lucrecia tried to revive Vincent and she succeeded. After some time Vincent open his eyes, but at that moment,
Hojo killed Lucrecia...
Vincent can't do anything because he can't move yet.

After Lucrecia's death, Vincent went alone on a journey.
On the other hand, before her death Lucretia has given birth to a child, a daughter [Marlene] of her and Vincent.
Vincent never saw her and didn't know of her existence but Marlene has saw him many times in her mom's lab.
Even thogh she never really talk to him but through her mother's story, she loves Vincent! [daughter to dad of course!]
When her mother died she was there too.

Several years after, Marlene has grown up and everybody knows her as Shelke.
Even after all the years, she still wants to see Vincent!
Finally, Vincent found Lucretia in the crystal cave but he felt sth lost from him even though he has found what he's been looking for so long.
When he got out of the cave and see Shelke there he recognized her immediately [even with his vague memory] and know what he's been missing all this time
