We had to strip out 1973 Mach 1 to continue the restoration process. It is a small part in the overall process, but we had to get as much done as possible before we sent it back to our restorer for the next stage.

  • Hey! I like the way Pops does it! Sitting down and grind away - thats' my style!

    Love the car!

  • @backyardsounds He grinds, eats and sleeps in that chair! We are taking footage now with our 'third' rebuild of Junior after we crashed out in Targa Tasmania. It is now straight, lighter, better, etc. We can only register it as a Special Interest Rally car here, so the restoration is more race oriented, but still a beautiful car. Thanks very much for watching.

  • so fish oil is good for recovering the car ?????

  • Yeah, I think so. We won't use much because we have repaired, treated and painted all panels and spaces. They should be pretty good. But we will probably give some sections a carefulk spray before we put it back together.

I think one problem with anything like fish oil is that it makes it so much harder to prep if you want to paint again. You really have to ensure the product is off the surfaces or it will ruin the job. So we will be careful of overspray, etc.

    Cheers, and thanks for looking.

  • why didn't you sand-blast it?

  • The car is located in Launceston, Tasmania, and there doesn't seem to anyone prepared to blast it. They don't do media blasting, and worry that the heat generated by the sand will warp panels. Everything has to be done by hand. We don't mind though, the 'by hand' stuff is why we began the project.

  • I used a Milwaukee orbital sander with 80grit on mine and had it down to bare metal in a couple hours. Too bad they hacked a hole in your roof for the sunroof.

  • Congratulations!

I own a 73 mach here in Brazil as you do, but mine is a blue/argent.

Difficult to restore one far from the US, isnt it?

    Lets keep talking!

  • still but im amazed you can use something natural i fought you have to use some kind of chemicals or something to recover it :D
