Just because you're in the Hall doesn't mean your number goes up to the JLA rafters. 7 Hall of Fame goalies have played for the Detroit Red Wings. Only #1 is retired.
I love Ozzie, but he's not a Hall of Fame lock and his number shouldn't be up in the rafters.
Brian Rafalski is 38. What are you talking about?
And #28 should not go up to the rafters here. He was a good player and played a big role in winning the 2008 Stanley Cup. But this is Detroit only the some of the greatest players of all time get their numbers retired here. In the last 20 years only two players are worthy to get that honor. One of them is Steve Yzerman. The only number going up anytime soon is #5.
I'm not dissing Rafalski, but we have high standards here.
It really sucks watching such a great young hockey player hes only 30 something Lidstrom is like 40 or 41 but it is really understandable because he said something about his wife. if you look at him closely you can tell he doesn't want to retire you should retire the jersey in Detroit long with steve Yzerman hawchuk howe all the greats up their #28 retired here would be awesome... every game i go to at joe louis i look forward in watching you skate your a outstanding player. you will be missed..
I wonder who they'll get too replace him... imagine if it was volchenkov, him and kronwall together; the opposition wouldn't leave the locker room lol.

God bless you Brian sorry to see you go.

All the God talk is creepy, but I wish he hadn't retired. Jonathan Ericsson as a top 4 dman on the Wings is just downright depressing.

Absolutely hate to see him go.
