My dad and I took my youngest son on his first hog hunt this evening. I was hoping to get a shot at a huge spotted boar that has been showing up on camera. He didn't show up, but the others did. On the count of three, two shots rang out and when it was all over, two hogs were down.....
All three of us were perched in a tripod blind. My son was standing up on my left with his rifle , me in the middle sitting in the chair, and my dad on the right, sitting on the floor, holding my video camera up over his head trying to film through the tree branches. The hogs were pretty skittish tonight and kept darting in and out. Every time we would choose who would shoot which one, they would shift. It was fun hearing the excitement in my son's voice as he was calling out which one he was going for
How well do these thing smoke for some BBQ? I love smoking shoulders and ribs, but I know nothing about wild hogs. I dont think we have 'em up here.

@WisconsinEric Thanks for watching! Smaller ones like these here make good BBQ if prepared correctly. The key is, after you butcher them, to leave them on ice for a few days, draining the bloody water and replacing ice as needed. This way you get most of the blood and "gamey" taste out of the meat. The big ones, we leave for the coyotes lol.. I dont know how far up north they have invaded, but around here they are a major nuisance to land owners. Fun as heck to hunt too!
