@TheNerdSauce No, the power grid and most electronics in the US are vulnerable. That's why they're worried about EMP attacks while countries like China are racing to develop EMP weapons. Certain high value installation like major military bases or government buildings are shielded (e.g. NORAD, White House...)

Though not all electronics will be fried. I'm sure some will survive and some newer cars with electronic ignitions will still start. Or happen to be in a Faraday cage-actual or simulated.

@StaysGroovy4U - nuclear explosions cause an EMP or Electro-Magnetic Pulse burst if they are detonated above the ground. It's a shockwave made entirely of electricity travelling at the speed of sound except it doesn't do physical damage it just fries every electrical circuit in its path. However, where this short film goes wrong is that nowadays most modern computers and electrical components have built-in EMP shielding that will protect them from an EMP burst.
