visit my webpage - http://www.joolsscott.co.uk The song was a hit in 1968 by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass on A&M 1001 (45rpm). The song has become a jazz standard, and has been performed by artists as diverse as John Coltrane, Stanley Jordan, Alice Coltrane, Carmen Lundy, Dave Brubeck, Kenny Rogers, Stringmansassy, Tanya Tucker, The Derek Trucks Band, Rod Stewart, Sarah Vaughan, The Supremes, Brian Setzer, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, André 3000 of OutKast, Kimiko Itoh, Big Brovaz, Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand, Tennessee Ernie Ford, Andy Williams, The Lennon Sisters, Lorrie Morgan, Luther Vandross, Tartan Specials [1], Amanda Palmer and, Björk (in the movie Dancer in the Dark). Coltrane's album of the same name has been a landmark in the history of jazz for numerous reasons, not least for the rediscovery of soprano sax. The song was mixed by audio-trickster collective Negativland on their album No Business, which was released in 2005. The Lennon Sisters' version of this song appeared in the film adaptation of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The song is played during the beginning, juxtaposed with various images from the 1960s. My Favorite Things is also said to have been Michael Jackson's favorite song of all time.

During 'The One Where Monica Gets A Roommate', the pilot of the sitcom Friends, Phoebe attempts to cheer up Rachel who has just jilted her fiance Barry after realising she didn't love him by singing her the song: "Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens/Doorbells and sleigh bells and ...something with mittens/La la la, something, and noodles with string -", at which point Rachel hurriedly cuts her off and tells her she's "all better". Phoebe is genuinely overjoyed that she "helped".

Buy me diamonds and rubies
I'm crazy bout bentley's
Gucci dresses and drop-top compressors
Wine me and dine me
Bring those platinum rings
Those are a few of our favourite things

(Chorus)
Buy me diamonds and rubies
I'm crazy bout bentleys (is it)
Gucci dresses and drop-top compressors
Wine me and dine me
Bring those platinum rings (right)
Those are a few of our favourite things

(What you want)
What I need is a gentleman
Who does the best he can
There to hold my hand
I want you to understand
Of course I want diamonds and expensive things
Cause a girl's gotta have her favourite things

Oh that's what you like nice type of life
Platinum at night flat diamond light
Well that's so bright
You looking right ass kinda tight
Don't spend the night
Roll with the g, oh we could be right you and me
Like fantasy I'll make you real
So what the deal
Girl tell Randy just how you feel

(Chorus)
Buy me diamonds and rubies
I'm crazy bout bentleys
Gucci dresses and drop-top compressors
Wine me and dine me
Bring those platinum rings (thats standard)
Those are a few of our favourite things

(What you want)
I would like a man who would
Take care of business
And still have the time to
Take me on a shopping spree
What's mine is yours and what's yours is mine
With what we have lets put it together and we can shine
We can shine

I know what you want
And I got what you need
I believe you should be rolling with me
I take you around, out on the town
An show you the way that a boy liquors down
Whenever you're ready girl we can go now
An we can do things you don't even know how
I know that you know that I'm feeling your style
So tell me what you do just to make you go wow uh

(Chorus)
Buy me diamonds and rubies
I'm crazy bout bentleys (that's what I like)
Gucci dresses and drop-top compressors
Wine me and dine me (wine me and dine me)
Bring those platinum rings
Those are a few of our favourite things

Let me tell you what this all about
Simplicity easy to please but I like expensive things
For me you can buy diamonds and pearls
Just the little things I like in my world

(Chorus)
Buy me diamonds and rubies
I'm crazy bout bentleys
Gucci dresses and drop-top compressors
Wine me and dine me
Bring those platinum rings
Those are a few of our favourite things

  • gooooo lad :)

really like ur version..the beginning and some fill ins sound abit like take five by good ole brubeck dont they? ;)

    greets from Hamburg

  • Take 5 all the way! Check out my take 5 vs gymnopedie vid, that's a strange one...

  • Great, love the voices in the background. Must be what it sounds like to a lot of musicians when they play in pubs. Doesn't mean we don't appreciate the music..

  • I'm glad u appreciate it! Even though they're all talking over it I like to think that some of them do also ;) long live 'LIVE' music!

  • That is definitely a very bloody well thought arrangement, i really like it, especially the last minute, too bad it isn't complete :/

Do you have a "clean" version of that, without the voices on the background?

  • The camera ran

out of memory! I was frustrated with it, that was my favourite version ever. I will try again, to complete it! Thanks for listening.
