@pianoenthusiast11 I'm afraid you are incorrect...Missa Cantata (latin for Sung) is a Sung Mass (which is classified as one priest, Gregorian chant and/or sacred polyphony, and a score of servers) a Missa Solemnis (latin for Solemn) is a Solemn Mass in which there is a priest, deacon, and a subdeacon with incense, a score of servers, and Gregorian chant and/or sacred polyphony. Thus, there is some overlap between the Sung Mass and the Solemn Mass.

each of the rites you describe is different in one respect from another, be it missa, missa cantata, missa solemnis. They each have their own characteristics. The pontifical mass can be either cantata or solemnis.

missa cantata is indeed different from a low mass (missa) and although the Missa Solemnis (or high mass) is different from the Low Mass it is, actually significantly different from the Missa Cantata (or Solemn Mass). Missa Cantata and missa Solemnis are both more similar to each other than they are to Missa (or Low MAss) but they are not in fact one and the same thing!

ritual notes? i donknow what they are... but i think what you are doing is making fine distinction between the very different levels... but my undertsanding is that the primary distinction is only between low mass and high mass, and that missa cantata qualifies as a high mass... but missa cantata is certainly not a puntifical high mass, and yet both are high masses. My source is the coalition ecclesia dei.

pacislander you are not entirely correct...yes this is missa cantata which is solemn mass, the solemn high mass is with deacon and subdeacon - missa cantata or solemn mass is with just the celebrant...you may want to check ritual notes of course!

this is a wonderful video and it would be wonderfuller still to see the coffee table moved from infront of the altar!
it is, however, not a 'High' mass as there are not 3 sacred ministers, what this is is technically a 'solemn' mass...very nice none the less!

this is missa cantata, which qualifies for a high mass. The one with a deacon and a subdeacon is called a solemn high mass
