I have always thought of this cat as person of the classic singer/songwriter cut from the cloth of the Austin scene. Beautiful storyteller no matter what style his muse tells him to set the song to... By the way MercuryZebra there is NO SUCH THING AS TYPICAL BLUESY SHIT. Obviously you think any ADG progression is typical. Its about the color between the notes played and the passion that makes that iconic sound. Obviously you're a yankee asshole that nows nothing of the feeling of true blues...

Well said Karma. Would have liked another few records like Modern or his debut but you have to respect him for changing direction and not slaving for a label.

When I first heard the wailing guitar on Muddy Jesus on my car radio back in 1995, I pulled off the road to make sure I heard who it was. I heard Ian Moore and ran to buy Modernday Folkore and later I stumbled across his first Capricorn CD. He has since cut the hair, moved to Wash and evolved away from the Texas blues style but he is still a soulfull and fine artist who simply has the guts and integrity to follow his own heart and not that of the masses who once worshipped him as the next SRV.

Agreed! He IS the music, NOT a phase, NOT producers, NOT record companies. This is HIM RAW. And it should be appreciated by those that respect him.
